Lodestone Desktop

Lodestone and the whole harmonism.io library in one application on your own computer. It thinks with a language model that runs on the machine itself, so nothing you write leaves it, and after the first download it needs no connection.

What it needs

To run its own model, a computer with at least 16 GB of memory. The installer is about 400 MB. On first opening, Lodestone downloads its language model once, chosen for the computer's memory: 7.3 GB on a 16 GB machine, 17 GB from 32 GB, larger models on larger machines. The download shows its progress, resumes if interrupted, and is checked before use.

With a free harmonism.io account

Signed in to a free harmonism.io account, Lodestone thinks with the models it runs on at harmonism.io: nothing to download and no key of your own, ten messages a day for the first month and five a day after, counted once across the website and the app. The corpus, the crisis safeguard, your memory and your practices stay on your computer; each question goes to harmonism.io and on to the model's host, which read it to answer it and keep none of it. Where Lodestone runs sets every route side by side.

With a model you rent

A computer with less memory, or a practitioner who wants a frontier model's depth, can give Lodestone an API key instead: Anthropic's Claude, Venice, OpenRouter, or any service that speaks the OpenAI API (Lodestone → Model…, or the link on the first screen). Everything that makes Lodestone what it is stays on your computer and runs there: the corpus and its search, the crisis safeguard, witness mode, your memory and your practices. Each question goes to the provider with its context and comes back as an answer, so the provider can read it, and you pay the provider for what you use, usually a few cents a message. Under Anthropic's API terms nothing is used for training and conversations are deleted after 30 days; some of Venice's models run in attested confidential hardware the provider cannot read. The key is kept encrypted by your computer's keychain.

From your phone

On your own Wi-Fi, a phone can use the computer's Lodestone: Lodestone Mobile on Android pairs with it, and any phone's browser can open it (Lodestone → Use from Your Phone…). Anywhere else, Lodestone can answer in a Telegram bot of your own: create one with @BotFather, paste its token into the same window, and send the code it shows. The bot answers through the same safeguards, with the same memory, and offers a check-in when a practice is due. It answers while the computer is awake and Lodestone is open, and Telegram carries the messages, since chats with a bot are not end-to-end encrypted.

First opening

The app is not yet signed by Apple or Microsoft, so each system asks once.

Mac
Open the downloaded file and drag Lodestone into Applications. Open it; when macOS refuses, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway. Later versions arrive through Lodestone → Check for Updates….
Windows
Run the installer. If SmartScreen appears, choose More info, then Run anyway.
Linux
Make the AppImage executable (right-click → Properties → Allow executing, or chmod +x Lodestone-linux.AppImage) and open it. The .deb installs with sudo apt install ./Lodestone-linux.deb.

What is inside

The conversation with Lodestone, with the full doctrinal backbone and the corpus; the library in English, readable offline with its search, the interactive Wheel and the assessment, with the other languages downloadable from the app; and Lodestone on every page of the library, answering from your own model. You can attach a PDF, a document, a photo or a recording to a message: it is read on your computer, a recording transcribed there, before Lodestone answers. If you have taken the Harmonic Profile assessment, paste its code into Lodestone and your results join what it knows of you. Updates to the corpus and the library are fetched only when you ask. Look this up online sends a single question to a search engine, only when you press it.

No installation possible? Lodestone in the browser runs with a smaller model and a shorter doctrinal backbone, and on a phone thinks on your computer, your harmonism.io account or OpenRouter. · Version 1.14.0 · SHA-256 checksums
